Chapter Leader Day

Chapter Leader Day is an opportunity for chapter leaders from around the country to get together, share ideas, network, and learn about the resources available to them from ASTD. This years Chapter Leader Day will focus on the ASTD Leadership Institute (ALI), ASTD culture, and the synergy between chapters and national ASTD. Join us for a half-day of informative sessions and a chance to meet the chapter services department staff members as well as chapter-related committee members from the National Advisors for Chapters (NAC), the Leadership Development Team (LDT), the Chapter Recognition Committee (CRC), and the Chapter Operating Requirements (CORE) Committee.

CORE-Helping to Perfect Your Masterpiece

CORE Committee

Chapter success is driven by a variety of factors. The Chapter Operating Requirements (CORE) process ensures that chapter leaders deliver consistent benefits to members and helps the chapter attain the greatest level of success possible. This session will enable leaders new to the process and those who have an understanding of CORE to learn the basics and gain an overview the CORE elements. Members of the CORE Committee will review the 2009 submission process and highlight the changes for the submission due in January 2009. Join discussions on best practices from other chapters in this interactive session.

Join ASTD PR Staff and Chapter Leaders for an overview of how Employee Learning Week (ELW) can enhance your chapter’s local visibility, strengthen community partnerships, and increase awareness in the learning and performance field. During this session, you will gather new ideas for promoting ELW this year and hear 2007 best practices from fellow chapter leaders. How can you use the Sharing Our Success (SOS) program to learn from others' successes and avoid recreating the wheel? This interactive session will provide first-hand accounts from several ASTD chapter leaders about how they achieved recognition for their chapters' new, innovative, or improved practices through submitting an SOS. Discover how you can connect with other chapters to share organizational knowledge and show off your best stuff through the SOS “Success Stories” page on the ASTD website. As an added bonus, you’ll discover what it takes to be named Chapter of the Month and hear from some of those winning chapters themselves.

CPLP™ and Your Chapter

This session will address the value of the CPLP designation while describing the basics of the CPLP program, what it takes to become a CPLP, specifics about the process and the exams and references to help you decide whether it’s right for you. Additionally we will discuss how to develop a CPLP certification support structure that helps chapters to register new members, renew existing members, engage area organizations in certification activities, support CPLP and prospective candidates, and identify tools to help support these initiatives.

Chapter Excellence Awards (CEA) Overview

The Chapter Excellence Awards (CEA) recognize chapters that achieve excellence in strategic partnership, advancement of the workplace learning and performance (WLP) profession, and membership growth. ASTD awards a $1,000 cash prize for each award of excellence in each of three chapter size categories (for a total of nine awards). Join us at this informative session to learn how your chapter can qualify and apply for each of these awards.
