1. Congratulations to the April 2008 ASTD Chapter of the Month: The South Carolina Midlands Chapter

2. Chapter Leader Day is Sunday, June 1. Below are a few reminders about Chapter Leader Day and the International Conference & Exposition:

  • Are you planning to attend Chapter Leader Day?—RSVP to Marc Povell by May 1. Following Chapter Leader Day, those in attendance are welcome to join us for lunch. The Global Network-Chapter Leaders Joint Luncheon will give you an opportunity to network with your international counterparts and fellow chapter leaders.
  • The Chapter Room offers the opportunity to network with other chapter attendees, a chance to meet with chapter coaches, and a variety of special programs and events throughout the conference. View the Chapter Room schedule.
  • Special benefits are now available for chapter teams attending the International Conference & Exposition (in addition to discounted rates)
  • To promote chapter membership, ASTD will offer a $5 ASTD Bookstore discount at the International Conference & Exposition for attendees who join a chapter as a new member while at the conference. Attendees will be able to join your chapter online at the ASTD Connection Center & Café so make sure the membership section of your website is current and that people can join directly through your website. (For chapters using the Chapter Administration and Membership Program (ChAMP), the new members will be processed through the online ASTD Store, as usual.)
  • Special seating will be reserved for chapter leaders at the front for the general sessions at the conference. The VIP section will be marked with “Reserved” signage.
  • Avoid waiting in line for your badge—register for the International Conference & Exposition before April 18, and badges and credentials will be mailed to you

7. ASTD Chapter-Wide Conference Call—“Where Are You Heading Next? Volunteer Opportunities for Chapter Leaders” is May 7 at 3 p.m. ET, 2 p.m. CT, 1 p.m. MT, 12 p.m. PT. Email Renee Eder to register.

8. Congratulations to chapters that achieved 100 percent Chapter Operating Requirements (CORE). A congratulatory letter and 100 percent CORE logo will be sent this week.

9. Tip from CORE Committee—looking for a way to attract national ASTD members to your chapter?
