2009 CEA winners announced at ASTD Chapter Leaders Conference

 

 

The Valleys of Virginia Chapter won the Excellence in Membership Growth Award for small chapters by adding 43 people to their joint membership rolls.  Pictured here receiving the award is Tom Coffey, 2000 chapter president.

 

 

The Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter won the Excellence in Membership Growth Award for medium chapters with their increase of 22 joint memberships in 2008. Chapter leaders receiving the award are Bill Kleintop, Peggy Salvatore, Suzanne Weaver, Anita Freeman, Kim Weissbein, Andy Cook, Rachel Kubel, Rick Kerner

 

The New York Metro Chapter won the Excellence in Membership Growth Award for large chapters with an increase of 23 joint members. Kathy Meany, chapter past president, is pictured here receiving the award on behalf of the chapter.

CEA overview:

The CEA recognize chapters that achieve excellence in strategic partnership, advancement of the workplace learning and performance (WLP) profession, and membership growth.

 

ASTD awards a $1,000 cash prize for each award of excellence in each of three chapter size categories (for a total of nine awards). The awards of excellence are:

 

Excellence in Strategic Partnership─chapters that make a significant impact on local businesses and communities.
Excellence in the Advancement of the Workplace Learning and Performance (WLP) Profession─chapters that significantly foster workplace learning and performance in their community and professionalizing the industry through promoting the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP).
Excellence in Membership Growth─chapters that demonstrate the highest overall growth rate of joint national and chapter members.

 

The 2010 awards application will be available in January and will be based on 2009 results. To review the awards criteria, please click here for the 2009 application.

 

Size categories:

 

Small

Chapters consisting of 100 or fewer active members on January 1, 2009

 

Medium

Chapters consisting of 101-300 active members on January 1, 2009

 

Large

Chapters consisting of 301 or more active members on January 1, 2009

 

The CEA are based on results from the previous year. A volunteer awards panel of chapter leaders judges the submissions.
