Overview
The NAC are distinguished ASTD chapter past presidents who serve as national volunteer advisors to the Chapter Services Team and chapter leaders. The chair of the NAC also serves on the ASTD Board of Directors. NAC members serve three-year terms.
Mission
To serve as advisors, advocates, and mentors within ASTD on matters of chapter management and operations to ensure high quality service to members.
Duties and Responsibilities
NAC members are charged with providing strategic direction and leadership in the development and support of ASTD chapters and members. As an advisory and resource link, major functions include:
• advising and coaching chapters about ASTD initiatives
• linking chapters with common needs
• identifying and sharing best practices
• advising ASTD staff about issues of importance to chapters
• identifying and examining future roles for chapters
• bringing issues of interest to chapters to the attention of the Board of Directors
• ensuring that the needs of chapters are recognized by the Society.

National Advisors for Chapters Selection Process
After the June 11 National Advisors for Chapters application deadline, the following steps will take place:
- National Advisors for Chapters (NAC) Nominating Committee reviews the applications
- Interviews of selected candidates are conducted by the NAC Nominating Committee
- NAC Nominating Committee presents and recommends the selected candidates to the full NAC for a vote
- The recommendation is sent to the ASTD Board of Directors for a vote
- Candidates will be notified of selection by mid August and should plan to attend the 2008 ASTD Chapter Leaders Conference (ALC) October 31-November 1 for onboarding
