• New Tool for Chapter Collaboration!
  Chapters benefit when they work together and learn from each other, which is why national ASTD created a new tool for chapter leaders—the Chapter Collaboration Portal, found at www.collaborate.astd.org. The portal will allow you to:
  • share best practices, including sample tools and documents
  • upload and download documents in different categories such as: technology, professional development, board resources, membership, communication, and national resources
  • search for board members of other chapters by leadership position, chapter, or name.
  To login to the Chapter Collaboration Portal and use this dynamic tool, all board members must have a single sign-on profile setup and be coded as a “chapter leader” in ASTD’s database. If you do not yet have an astd.org profile, go to www.astd.org to register and create your profile, username, and password. Click here for a job aid on how to create a single sign-on profile on www.astd.org. If you are having problems accessing the site, please contact your chapter coach to ensure that you have been identified by your chapter as a current chapter leader.
• New Chapter Survival Guide with tips to survive and thrive in the economic downturn.
• Changes to IRS filing requirements for the updated Form 990
  All chapters must file either a 990-N or a 990-EZ/Form 990 with the IRS for the 2008 calendar year. Chapters that have revenue less than $25,000 should file the 990-N form. Click here to access the form. For 2008, the IRS increased the limits for filing the 990-EZ from $100,000 to $1 million. Chapters that have revenue between $25,000 and $1 million should file the 990-EZ form. The 2008 990-EZ has minor changes, mostly to the formatting of the return. • Chapter leaders and members can participate in the Professional Development Webcast Series for Chapters, featuring monthly webcasts presented by ASTD subject matter experts (SMEs). Click here to find out more.
