Question
I will receive my Doctoral degree in May in Applied Technology Training and Development and would like to do external consultant work alone or with another company. How do I go about accomplishing this goal?
Answer
If you do not have any practical experience in the world of work, I highly recommend you begin by working with another company. If you want to work in a training company, check your local area for training companies or check the ASTD Buyers Guide. Consultants must bring credibility to their clients. Credibility is based on a combination of education, experience and expertise.
Question
I contract as a trainer for a training organization that is trying to save money by using in-house sales associates (non-trainers) to do their training work. What should I do when the companies I subcontract with ask me why I am not going to come back?
Answer
The truth is always the best. You can simply say, "due to economical reasons your in-house sales associates will conduct the training in the future." If you doubt that this is the answer your organization wants you to use, ask the person to whom you report.
Question

Question
I need a client agreement template for developing a CBT based program for a large national retailer. Can you recommend a "boiler plate" agreement I can use to start with and simplify the process as well as reduce the hours our attorney will need to complete an agreement?
Answer
Suggest you pose this question on the ASTD Consulting Discussion Board. I am sure that some one has something you could use.
