The need for program objectives in learning is obvious. Objectives provide direction to program designers, developers, facilitators, participants, and evaluators. In the past, program objectives focused on instruction, knowledge, and skills. But in today’s results-based environment, learning programs are expected to go well beyond teaching people what they need to know. Rather, programs are expected to change what people do on the job and even more important improve business measures. Without objectives addressing these issues, programs are positioned to fail or at least not meet expectations. Program objectives should go beyond learning – they should reflect application, impact, and even ROI. This practical and interactive online workshop addresses the need to go beyond learning objectives, presenting a fundamental approach to developing higher levels of objectives.
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
• Define stakeholder needs to set the stage for program objectives
• Develop program objectives to position the program for success beyond learning acquired during the program
• Use program objectives to drive the measurement and evaluation process
• Align learning to the business by addressing the three phases of business alignment.
