Managing Organizational Knowledge Certificate Program
Enhance employee performance and foster innovation.
Discover why knowledge management must be a vital part of corporate principles and individual jobs for knowledge sharing to succeed. This two-day program combines the organizational culture, strategic goals, individual needs, and expertise of people to create an atmosphere of learning and growth.
Audience
This program is designed for professionals who want to understand knowledge management and how to provide leadership in their organizations to become knowledge-creating and knowledge-sharing entities.
Course Description
Effective knowledge sharing throughout an organization enhances employee performance, fosters innovation, and facilitates the exchange of its most important commodity—the “know-how” of the people who make the difference between success and failure.
Leveraging organizational knowledge for maximum impact requires approaches that include but also transcend formal training. Now, workplace learning and performance professionals have a major role in enabling access to critical knowledge and expertise in real time, wherever and whenever work gets done.
More than just repositories of content, emerging Knowledge Management (KM) practices also include fostering collaboration and access to experts, as well as a multi-disciplinary approach where knowledge is directly and systemically integrated directly into the workplace, often as a function of the job itself.
The content is based on the ASTD Competency Study and helps in preparation for obtaining, the CPLP™ credential.
Learning Objectives
After the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Develop a vision and strategy for a knowledge-centric workplace, ensuring that it integrates with the organization’s business strategy
- Evaluate and determine appropriate uses for current and emerging knowledge management tools and technologies to support work-centered learning and performance
- Manage the information life cycle, from identifying, defining, and creating knowledge assets, including knowledge mapping, through managing, distributing, and sharing information, and, ultimately, to assessing the value KM brings to the organization
- Examine the design of workplace and social environments that encourage and facilitate knowledge creation, sharing, and innovation
- Analyze organizational readiness for knowledge management and implement appropriate strategies to assure successful organizational implementation.

On-Site Offerings
ASTD can make arrangements for the Managing Organizational Knowledge Certificate Program to be offered at your organization. If you have a minimum of 12 participants, you might find it is easier, and more cost effective, for one of our facilitators to come to your site and teach a two-day seminar. Your attendees participate in the same learning experience offered at our public seminars, but have the convenience of being at your site and the benefit of covering the material with company peers.
