Developing Great Managers for the Government Certificate Program

Course Description
Some of the most effective learning experiences for managers are short and informal and this program shows you how to create quick, flexible learning. Join us to learn how to create informal management training sessions and other quick and flexible learning events, such as podcasts and blogs. During these two action-packed days, you will create hours of training and record several podcast episodes that you can take back to your workplace and immediately apply--no additional costs, no licenses to worry about. Everyone who attends the workshop will receive and be able to use all the work generated in the workshop.

Participants will discuss management development trends and practice several tools for quickly building informal training programs that can easily supplement a more formal training program. This workshop is based on the popular book Developing Great Managers by Lisa Haneberg. Each participant will receive a copy of the book.

Audience
Those who develop management training programs, training managers, managers, all who want to make sure their organizations stay ahead in developing management training programs that are up-to-date, practical, and easy to implement.

Special Features
Before the event: blogs and podcasts to spark your imagination

During the event: discussion of management development trends and how to make your own programs relevant and successful

After the event: Practical ready-to-use tools and content developed by your team. A continuing dialog through a Weekly Digest so that you and your colleagues can share what works and what didn’t to create a learning environment that will help your managers excel.

Comments from past participants; mission accomplished with Developing Great Managers:

“I have an aging group of managers, and I need something to spark their interest.”

“I want to walk out of here and implement something right away!”

“I don’t want my managers to check off a class, I want them to apply their learning.”

“I’ve got a diverse staff with little education. They did a good job and got promoted to manager. Help!”

“Middle managers are really in a tough place. I need to help them succeed, and not with the same, stale workshops we’ve been doing.”

On-Site Offerings
ASTD can make arrangements for the Developing Great Managers Certificate Program to be offered at your organization. You might find it is easier, and more cost effective, for one of our facilitators to come to your site and teach a two-day workshop. Your attendees participate in the same learning experience offered at our public seminars, but have the convenience of being at your site and the benefit of covering the material with company peers.

For additional information or to bring this program on-site, please contact Amanda Miller at amiller@astd.org or 703.683.9215, or request information through our online form.
