CPLP on Campus ONLINE

CPLP on Campus ONLINE is a self-paced online preparation course that is perfect for any busy individual wanting to begin preparing for both the CPLP knowledge based exam and the work product submission. This asynchronous course is accessible to registered participants anytime, anywhere via the internet for a 10-week period. Participants will have weekly access to a course mentor who will “meet” participants online.

Audience

This program is designed for those who have the following qualifications:

• If you have three years of relevant work experience in the workplace learning and performance profession
• If you have decided that certification aligns with your career goals
• If you have the resources required (time, money, energy) to invest in the CPLP®
• If you have a good understanding of all nine areas of expertise of the ASTD Competency Study and are ready to start preparing to earn your CPLP®
• If you want to know where your understanding of CPLP® content is strong, and also where you need to invest more effort in preparation in order to be successful.

Course Description

Courses are offered three times in 2009: September 9 – November 18, September 23 – December 2, or October 7–December 16. Individuals select to participate in one of these course offerings. This schedule allows participants to set their own study pace with access each week to a course mentor. However, you only have access to your offering for a 10 week window.  

The course includes application exercises that develop specific knowledge in each of the ASTD Competency Model nine areas of expertise - (1) designing learning, (2) delivering training, (3) improving human performance, (4) measuring and evaluating learning, (5) facilitating organizational change, (6) coaching, (7) career planning and talent management, (8) managing the learning function, and (9) managing organizational knowledge. Participants work with a course mentor, an expert in the field, and benefit from the opportunity for online discussions with other WLP professionals preparing for the CPLP exam. 

Participants will use the ASTD Learning System (included with your registration fee) throughout the course and covers the profession’s nine areas of expertise: (1) designing learning, (2) delivering training, (3) improving human performance, (4) measuring and evaluating learning, (5) facilitating organizational change, (6) coaching, (7) career planning and talent management, (8) managing the learning function, and (9) managing organizational knowledge. CPLP on Campus ONLINE primary purpose is to prepare an individual for the CPLP certification. 

Learning objectives:

Upon completing the program, participants will be able to:

·         Define the key terms and vocabulary of the ASTD Learning System

·         Identify the key knowledge areas of the ASTD Learning System

·         Accurately articulate the work produce submission requirements

·         Identify the steps to prepare your work product

·         Identify areas of strength and weakness to prepare for the CPLP™ knowledge exam

·         Develop an individual study plan to prepare for the CPLP™ certification

·         Apply test-taking techniques and exam requirements to your CPLP™ preparation.

Facilitators 

ASTD uses the most effective and highly-qualified mentors, for our education programs. Each online mentor is a CPLP and understands what is necessary to prepare for your CPLP exam and work product. They will have regular “virtual” office hours each week and will be available to answer questions as well as monitor the participant discussion board.
