Dr. Michael Allen
Dr. Michael Allen is the primary architect of Authorware, the founder and former chairman of Authorware, Inc.-- which merged with Macromind/Paracompto to form Macromedia, Inc. --and the CEO of Allen Interactions Inc. Previously, he was a principal tools architect and systems designer of Control Data's famous PLATO computer-based education system. Dr. Allen is widely respected for his abilities to define, design, and build tools that allow creative individuals to harness the potential of evolving interactive multimedia technologies. In recent years, he has concentrated on creative application design and defining unique methods for developing meaningful and memorable learning applications that fully “engage the mind.”
He holds Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in Educational Psychology from The Ohio State University and a B.A. degree in Psychology from Cornell College. In his book, Michael Allen's Guide to e-Learning, he speaks out about his frustrations with e-learning and brings fundamental issues to light. He also shares specific commonsense and valuable guidelines that reliably produce effective, practical learning solutions.
Ethan Edwards
Ethan Edwards has been active in the design and production of interactive training applications for more than 20 years. Beginning at the University of Illinois Computer-based Education Research Laboratory, Edwards taught graduate courses in Instructional Design and Human Factors Design in the departments of Educational Psychology and Library and Information Science. He has held design and development positions at Microsoft, Authorware, Macromedia and Lincoln Trail Libraries System; has served as an independent consultant and trainer for a variety of Fortune 500 companies; and has been with Allen Interactions since1996. Edwards is fascinated with both the design and production aspects of creating interactive learning applications. An expert Authorware programmer and e-learning designer, he has directed numerous development projects, created award-winning e-learning, and taught countless training seminars in instructional design, interface design, and the use of multimedia software for e-Learning development. His education includes degrees in Computer Science and Educational Psychology, with significant in-process work toward a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (instructional design focus).
Edmond Manning
Edmond Manning has produced WBT and CBT applications for the past 10 years for clients such as Sprint, Corning, Manpower, Abbott Laboratories, Kraft Inc., and others. Instructional topics ranged from software simulation to ethics and presentation skills. Edmond has helped mentor and create a CBT department for a Household Finance Corporation division; designed and constructed online help for a 120 million dollar customized software package; and written/conducted instructor-led training in customized software as well as Macromedia's Flash. Manning has a Masters of Science degree from Northern Illinois University in Instructional Technology and a Bachelors degree in English, graduating as the valedictorian from the University's Honors Program. Manning's professional interests include accelerated learning, interface design, effective goal integration, and budgeting.
