Learning Objectives
Week 0 Set the Stage (prework):
• Understand the overall concept of ROI (Myths and Mysteries)
• Identify their concerns with WLP evaluation and ROI
• Recognize their organization’s readiness for ROI.
Week 1 Evaluation Planning:
• Recognize the difference between activity and results-based WLP
• Decide to which level a program should be evaluated
• Understand the need for and process of evaluation planning
• Select a program suitable for ROI.
Week 2 Data Collection:
• Understand issues to consider when selecting data collection instruments
• Identify the most credible sources of data for the situation at hand
• Describe how they would collect data for one of their programs suitable for ROI.
Week 3 Data Analysis: Isolating the Effects of a Program:
• Explain the importance of isolating the effects of the WLP program being evaluated
• Select the best approach to isolation given certain conditions
• Explain three of the techniques available to isolate the effects of a program
• Describe how they would isolate the effects of a program they plan to evaluate using the ROI Methodology.
Week 4 Data Analysis: Calculating the ROI:
• Identify various techniques to convert a measure to money
• Follow the five steps to convert a measure to monetary value
• Identify the costs categories that represent the fully-loaded costs of a program
• Describe how they would convert measures for one of their programs to monetary value
• Develop a fully-loaded cost profile for their WLP programs
• Understand the importance and process of reporting their first ROI study
• Plan next actions.
