Managing External Vendors Online Workshop

Create and maintain successful vendor relationships.

As companies downsize and decentralize, external vendors and contractors are more and more critical to project success. It is generally not possible to micromanage all the external vendors and their tasks, so project managers must macro-manage these activities. This online workshop provides the answers to the following questions: How can I estimate, manage and control external vendor deliverables?  How can I monitor activity dependencies between external vendors or between internal and external staff?  How can I focus multiple agendas into a successful project completion (on time, within budget, meeting the clients’ needs)?

Audience
This workshop is designed for learning and performance professionals who are involved in one or more of the following areas:

  • Coordinating multiple external vendors and their deliverables
  • Clarifying the roles and responsibilities of internal and external staff
  • Tracking and communicating project status for projects with internal and external players
  • Creating a cohesive plan for a diverse project team of internal and external players.

Course Description
This online workshop covers the essentials of coordinating the work of external vendors in order to achieve successful project completion by setting objectives for the project, defining the scope, and getting off to a good start.  It covers techniques for negotiating, removing barriers to cooperation, and resolving conflicts that could arise. Tips and techniques regarding contractor law, confidentiality, communication, and knowledge transfer are also covered. The experienced facilitators give guidance from deep experience with project management and managing vendors.
