HPI Basics Certificate Program

Positively affect your organization through human performance improvement.

This online program is a high-level introduction of the Human Performance Improvement (HPI) process and principles. Participants will learn how HPI differs from other disciplines, particularly training, and will be introduced to the three basic principles of HPI, and how the principles will help individuals reach their desired business outcomes.

Audience
This program is designed for learning and performance practitioners, managers and clients who want a very high-level introduction to the principles of HPI.

Course Description
How does the course work?

• Online sessions: Live online sessions will be conducted once a week for four weeks. Each session is 90 minutes in length. You'll participate via the WebEx Training Center platform plus a teleconference for audio. Special software is not required. All you need is a standard web browser and a telephone to participate!

• Opportunities for Application: Through interactive group discussion, a readiness assessment, practice exercises, knowledge checks, and a multi-part case study, participants will be given opportunities to apply their new knowledge and skills and share experiences with the program participants.

• Discussion Board: A discussion board will be available throughout the program. The instructor will post information and discussion topics. Participants may post questions for the instructor and topics for discussion as well.

• Resource Materials: Participants will receive a downloadable participant guide to accompany each week’s session, and a fold-out HPI model job. You will receive an email about one week prior to the session with WebEx instructions, dial-instructions, and pre-work/reading.

Online sessions will take place each Thursday from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. US Eastern Daylight Savings Time.

• Note for planning: Participants are asked to complete case study work and application exercises, and participate in discussion board conversations with fellow classmates throughout each of the four weeks. This time commitment, while not extensive, is in addition to each weekly online session.

On-Site Offerings
ASTD can make arrangements for the HPI Basics Certificate Program to be offered at your organization in the form of a one-day classroom-based workshop. You might find it easier, and more cost effective, for a facilitator to come to your site and deliver the one-day workshop. Your attendees receive the same content offered in the online version, but have the convenience of being at your site and the benefit of covering the material with your company peers.

For additional information or to bring this program on-site, please contact Amanda Miller at amiller@astd.org or 703.683.9215, or request information through our online form.
