Evaluation Process
In order for a courseware evaluation to start, a couple of prerequisite tasks must happen. If a course publisher is requesting a course evaluation for the first time, they must complete a Client Account Set-Up form. This form captures all of the key information about a courseware publisher including points of contact, mailing address, billing address, preferred method of payment, and other key information.
If a course publisher already has an account, then they can go directly to the Client Account Manager screen and access the account. From this screen, he or she can request a courseware evaluation for certification. The request form for certification captures descriptive information about the course that is going to get evaluated. This serves two functions: It helps codify the course for later searching, and it helps the certification administrator distribute the request to the most appropriate evaluator.
The evaluator will receive notification that there is/are new course(s) to be evaluated. The evaluator will read the descriptive information and when ready go to the evaluation portion of the workflow tool. The evaluator reviews the course against the standards and records documentation as to where a course fails to meet the requirements. The evaluation tool keeps track of scores made, comments made by the evaluator, and when the evaluation is completed, tallies the final score and informs the evaluator as to whether or not the course met the certification requirements.
The account manager will be notified via email of the decision to approve or deny certification or recertification in a timely manner. Information and documentation in connection with this decision and the reasons for the decision (including certification scores) will be kept confidential and will not be disclosed to the applicant company unless the courseware fails to meet the certification or recertification requirements. Only then will the specific information and documentation (including certification scores) be disclosed to the company so that the company may proceed with the Institute's reconsideration, corrective action, and/or appeals process.
Re-certification Information
Courses will need to be re-certified whenever major revisions are made such as upgrading from version 1.0 to 2.0 or from 4.0 to 5.0, etc. Step revisions such as 1.0 to 1.1 will not require re-certification.
