Proposal Checklist

  1. Print the Instructions/Screen Shots PDF
  2. Review Submission Instructions and Requirements pages.
  3. Select a Track and Topic, identify a Learning Approach and a Format
  4. Develop your proposal content in Word or WordPerfect first.

    Create a title (maximum: 10 words or 80 characters with spaces).

    Select the Target Audience

    Write a description (maximum: 2000 characters including the spaces).

    Write 1-3 application-focused learning objectives

    Include your delivery methods, be specific but succinct (maximum: 2000 characters including the spaces).

    Identify your room set-up and any special needs

  5. Save a copy of your proposal—ASTD is not able to send you a copy.
  6. Obtain your speaker reference with full contact info (someone outside your organization who has heard you speak and can attest to your speaking ability and content knowledge).
  7. Limit your proposals to two per company or individual.
  8. Create your proposal by pasting your proposal into the specific fields of the online template. Be sure to click Continue Proposal Submission at the end! You will see an on-screen verification that your proposal has been submitted. No other notification will be sent.
  9. Be sure to follow each step to ensure that your proposal is properly submitted. You will see a screen message at the end stating that your proposal has been sent to ASTD. If you do not see that message, contact ASTD for assistance at speakers@astd.org.
