Answer: Yes, you have a wide variety of options in terms of further professional development as a trainer from those offered by an academic institution, professional organizations or private vendors, including online as well as in realtime. ASTD does not evaluate or rate academic institutions or professional learning programs and the Q&A Column's policy is to remain neutral and objective.

You did not provide any information regarding why you are looking into professional development activities. An education program or professional learning course/seminar is the right one for you depending on your interests, background prior experience, the direction you want to take as a T&D specialist, and where the gaps are in your qualifications. A course of study can be an excellent one, but still not appropriate for you if it does not meet your needs.

In reviewing options for education and continue professional learning activities consider:

• Why do you feel further education or additional professional learning will enhance your career?
• What do you mean by "best institution, program, degree, or course of study" e.g., reputation, accreditation rating, most successful alumni, highly qualified staff, etc?
• Will the activity provide the skills or knowledge you are seeking?
• Does the coursework and delivery method fit your schedule, personal and work lifestyles, timeframe, and budget?
• What are the qualifications for acceptance?
• Overall, what do employers look for in education/continued professional learning as qualifications for the specific T&D job you want to pursue?
