CPLP® Volunteer Opportunities

Support the Profession and Earn Recertification Points

As proven leaders in the field we rely on current CPLP®s for help with the ongoing development of the CPLP® program. This is to ensure that a quality program will result. There are a number of CPLP® volunteer opportunities for 2012. Take a look at the information below for an overview of each of the activities and the 2012 schedule.

There is a two step process to apply.....

Item Writing

Conducted once during the year. Volunteers are responsible for developing multiple choice test questions for the CPLP® Knowledge Exam

Must have Intermediate level (rating of 4) or Expert level (rating of 5) expertise in at least 4 AOE areas.

Involves participation in on-site and remote activities.  Several dates will apply.  Must be attending the ASTD Conference and Expositon in order to particpate. Volunteers must be able to commit to the entire schedule  in order to particpate and earn recertification points. Selected participants must sign a Item Writing Non-Disclosure Agreement - (click here to view) in order to participate. 

Up to 5 points

Item Review Typically conducted 2-3 times during the year. Volunteers are responsible for reviewing all newly developed CPLP test items for the multiple choice exam. Must have Intermediate level (rating of 4) or Expert level (rating of 5) expertise in at least 4 AOE areas

Remote participation conducted via Web Conference format.  Any where from 3 - 6 hours of participation required (in some cases time is spread over several days).  Volunteers must be able to commit to the entire schedule in order to participate and earn recertification points. Selected participants must sign a Item Review Non-Disclosure Agreement - (click here to view) in order to participate. 

Up to 7 points
Work Product Scoring Typically conducted twice during the year. Volunteers are assigned as Raters (responsible for scoring candidate work products) or Team Leaders (responsible for rater training, scoring, providing guidance and adjudicating work product submissions. Must have Intermediate level (rating of 4) or Expert level (rating of 5) expertise in at least 3 of the Work Product AOE specific areas. Team leaders must have prior rater experience. In person workshop conducted in Alexandria, VA (at or near the ASTD headquarters), typically over a weekend. 3 - 4 day commitment (4 for Team Leads / 3 or Raters); eight hour work days required. Volunteers must commit to the entire schedule in order to particpate and earn recertification points. Selected participants must sign a Rater Non-Disclosure Agreement - (click here to view) and a Work Product Scoring Rules and Regulations Agreement - (click here to view) in order to participate.  Up to 15 points
Work Product Cut Score Conducted as needed. Volunteers are responsible for helping to develop the cut score for newly developed and piloted AOE work product areas. Must have Intermediate level (rating of 4) or Expert level (rating of 5) expertise in at least 3 of the Work Product specific AOE areas. In person workshop conducted in Alexandria, VA (at or near the ASTD headquarters), 1 - 2 day requirement which may involve weekend work; eight hour work days required. Volunteers must commit to the entire schedule in order to particpate and earn recertification points. Selected participants must sign a Cut Score Non-Disclosure Agreement - (click here to view) in order to participate.  Up to 10 points
