HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE CPLP™
There are no required or pre-requisite study materials to prepare for the CPLP. You have a wide range of options in respect to study approaches and resources. You can assemble your own materials, use ASTD support products and services (see the listing below) or look for third party products. Use any or all of these options to meet your own personal study preferences. Below are products/services offered by ASTD.
CPLP™ Candidate Bulletin: Knowledge Exam Content Outline (Appendix C)
For individuals who wish to put together their own resources, the CPLP™ Candidate Bulletin: Knowledge Exam Content Outline is available to help. This information is available at no charge to the candidate.
CPLP™ Practice Exam
The CPLP™ Practice Exam (pCPLP) tests your knowledge with 75 web-based, multiple-choice questions similar to those on the CPLP™ knowledge exam. Complete the pCPLP to receive a high level diagnostic score in each of the nine areas tested (item-level feedback is not provided). The pCPLP has no prerequisites. Take the exam on your time and at your own computer. It's ideal if you have already registered for a CPLP testing window or are planning to register. The regular price for the pCPLP is $69.
ASTD Learning System
The ASTD Learning System is a comprehensive self-directed learning resource for individuals preparing for the CPLP™ knowledge exam. This nine-volume set comprises 1,200 pages and aligns to the nine areas of expertise as defined by the ASTD Competency Model™. Purchase the Learning System from the ASTD Online Store or contact memberservices@astd.org.
ASTD Learning System Webcast Series – Member Only Benefit
The ASTD Learning System webcasts introduce you to the Learning System’s nine modules to give you a sense of the scope and depth of each module and for the system as a whole. The eight webcasts provide both an overview of what you can expect to cover in each module and complement the comprehensive printed material.
ASTD Learning System Flash Cards
The ASTD Learning System Flash Card set is based on the content of the ASTD Learning System and contains 250 cards with more than 500 questions to help you study for the CPLP knowledge exam. Tabs divide cards by area of expertise so you can easily customize your study experience by mixing up the cards or by focusing on one area at a time.
ASTD Learning System CD-ROM Companion Study Tool
The ASTD Learning System companion CD-ROM will help CPLP candidates drill and review content to assist with CPLP knowledge exam preparation. This CD features quizzes with more than 650 interactive knowledge check questions with reasons why the answers are right or wrong and score reporting to track your progress over time. It also includes the complete ASTD Learning System glossary and a searchable index.
ASTD CPLP™ Prep Workshop
The CPLP™ Prep Workshop is a two-day workshop. It gives participants a high level review of the nine areas of expertise on the knowledge exam, helps identify areas where further study is needed, enhances your test-taking skills, and shows you how to prepare the required work product for submission.
