Some of the topics covered include collaboration and trust building; problem solving and conflict resolution; and team assessment, development, and facilitation. The chapters take a step-by-step look at adult learning theories and practices and provide tools for workplace learning professionals to use to enhance training in their organizations. - Engaging Learning: Experience Basics: This excerpt from "Engaging Learning: Designing E-learning Simulation Games" looks at ways of facilitating learner- engagement by using games, simulations, action, fantasy role-play, and other similar techniques. - How to Select and Use Learning Tools: This booklet describes the reasons for using and selecting the best learning or instructional tools for training programs. The learning tools are divided into three categories--for use in training rooms, for use in and out of training rooms, and for use beyond training rooms. Examples of learning tools for use in a training room include transparencies, flip charts, video displays, and the like; for use in and out of the training room consider participant guides or handouts; and for use beyond the classroom job aids and simulations are among the suggestions. The author urges linking any learning tool to the course or program objectives, learner characteristics, and room and equipment requirements. It includes step-by-step instructions for blending lectures, games, and other interactive strategies to enhance classroom lectures.
