Members of the Board of Editors are valued members of the public administration and public policy community, representing a broad spectrum of well-respected stakeholders, including current and retired professionals from all levels of government, young professionals, private sector professionals, students of public administration, and academicians.
The Board of Editors plays a significant role in shaping the editorial direction and continuously improving the overall content quality for The Public Manager.
In consultation with the Publisher, Editor and Editor At Large, the Board is instrumental in ensuring that the journal remains focused on the key issues facing public managers today and remembers the challenges they have faced in previous times. Editors are welcome to promote the journal in social media and with other groups they know, identify new market areas for content coverage, and provide advice on publishing alternatives. Members are asked to fulfill duties related to several core activities for a year and may renew their service role annually.
- Planning: creating a long-range vision for the journal’s content; developing a comprehensive editorial calendar that is updated annually; advising on publication strategies and media.
- Content: identifying topical and timely areas of interest and professional development to journal readers; identifying and referring potential contributors for journal articles; referring potential articles, reports, and research.
- Outreach: developing and engaging in new ways to increase The Public Manager’s visibility and image to a variety of constituencies and markets; moderating or participating in occasional forums and seminars; speaking at educational sessions sponsored between The Public Manager and its affiliates.
- Review: reviewing and commenting on articles and books as identified by the Editor.
