Learning in the Modern Social Workplace

Monday, September 8, 2014

Jane Hart's blog, Learning in the Modern Social Workplace, recently earned the distinction of being the most socially shared learning and development blog in 2013. That year, it received 16,288 total shares on various social platforms.

Hart, the founder of the Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies (C4LPT), has long advocated for the smarter use of technology to support learning in the workplace. She is a sought-after international speaker and consultant, and author of the Social Learning Handbook. (Also see her chapter, "What's on the Horizon for the T&D Profession," in the ASTD Handbook: The Definitive Reference for Training & Development.)

Hart's blog covers mainly social learning, with many useful reviews of tools and other resources for training professionals (see her "Top 100 Tools" page). She often explores the true nature of social learning, discussing how efforts to capitalize on this method often backfire, and what we can do instead to facilitate it. Technology, of course, is another frequent topic of discussion on Hart's blog, making it an excellent resource for keeping up-to-date on the latest trends and tools in the field.
