ATD 2014 China Summit

The third annual ATD 2014 China Summit was held in Beijing and Shanghai, China. The theme of on this year’s summit was Global Perspectives on Talent Development. This four-day event, held from August 26–29, invited learning executives from leading global corporations Philips Lighting and LinkedIn to provide insight and share their best practices with L&D professionals in China. President and CEO of ATD, Tony Bingham, discussed the power of collaboration and how organizations can facilitate and capture the informal learning that occurs by leveraging social learning.

The ATD 2014 China Summit welcomed nearly 500 attendees, including an international delegation from Korea and guests from India. All attendees—ranging from HR directors to CLOs to talent development managers—received the Best of TD, and had many networking opportunities throughout the event. They learned about real-world implementation, and received guidance from the executives of award-winning corporations on how to propel their organization to the top.

In other exciting news, ATD held an opening ceremony for the official launch of our new ATD China office, located in Shanghai. ATD has engaged and supported talent development practitioners in China for several years. The establishment of our China office stems from the demand and support we’ve received during that time, and with our new office, we’re even more committed to providing relevant content and services to the profession in China.

Nan Kim is the international coordinator for the Association for Talent Development (ATD), the world's largest association dedicated to to those who develop talent in organizations. She supports the International department by facilitating the exchange of knowledge among the global learning and development community. She also helps manage the Global HRD Community of Practice, where she supports professionals around the world to share regional best practices, conduct global benchmarking, and discuss cross-cultural and global talent development issues. Nan graduated from The University of North Carolina with a BA in sociology.
