Lynn Schmidt has 26 years of experience as a talent management and organization development leader in large corporations. Currently, she is a talent management leader at Group Health Cooperative and has responsibility for succession management, leadership development, coaching, leader onboarding, and performance management. Prior to joining Group Health, Lynn was the director of talent management for Raytheon and had responsibility for implementing talent management and learning initiatives across the business.
In previous roles Lynn has created corporate universities and led enterprise-wide learning and development functions. She has had responsibility for strategic workforce planning, executive and high-potential leader development, diversity initiatives, employee engagement, and coaching and mentoring programs. She also has extensive experience evaluating the impact of talent management initiatives on the bottom line. She has received her certification in ROI evaluation, served as the chairperson of the ASTD ROI Network Advisory Committee for two years, and was a recipient of the ROI Practitioner of the Year Award.
In addition, Lynn has received her ACC coaching credential from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and is currently the director of sponsorship on the ICF Washington State chapter board of directors. Lynn was awarded the Talent Leadership Award at the World HRD Congress, and the Global HR Excellence Awards 2011-12 in Mumbai, India.
Lynn is editor of the ASTD In Action series book Implementing Training Scorecards, co-author of The Leadership Scorecard, and co-author of the upcoming title, Integrated Talent Management Scorecards: Insights From World-Class Organizations on Demonstrating Value (ASTD Press, August 2013).
