Lisa Downs, MS Ed., CPLP, is a Strategic Business Partner in Learning and Development at The Boeing Company, supporting its Engineering group for the Boeing Commercial Airplanes division. Prior to her role at Boeing, she was a Training Consultant with PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company in Seattle, WA where she led the leadership development and new employee onboarding programs. Previously, she was a Leadership Development Manager with T-Mobile USA where she conducted and developed manager, leader, and personal effectiveness training and coaching. Before working at T-Mobile, she worked in the accounting industry as a Senior Learning and Organizational Development Specialist for The Growth Partnership, St. Louis, MO, and as Manager of Learning and Development for Clark Nuber PS, in Bellevue, WA.
Lisa earned her Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential in 2010. She received her Master of Science in Education degree with a concentration in Adult Education from Western Illinois University and completed her undergraduate degree in Speech Communications at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. She earned her teaching certificate in secondary education in 1996 and taught high school Language Arts for five years. She is also a Certified Program Planner (CPP), a credential focused on creating and managing learning programs in organizations.
In addition to serving as the 2008 President and 2006-2007 VP of Membership for the ASTD Puget Sound Chapter, she served as the 2010 Chair of the ASTD Chapter Recognition Committee and is now a member of the ASTD National Advisors for Chapters committee for 2011-2013. Lisa is the author of three books in the ASTD Trainer’s WorkShop series: Listening Skills Training (2008), Time Management Training (2008), and Negotiation Skills Training (2009).
