Congratulations to the Piedmont Chapter of ASTD for being named the December 2013 Chapter of the Month!
Congratulations to the December Chapter of the Month, the Piedmont Chapter!
This month we recognize the Piedmont Chapter for successfully organizing a phone call survey of their membership, which allowed board members to connect with and learn from one-on-one conversations with chapter members. Because some chapter leaders were intimidated by the thought of initiating cold calls, the board decided to make these calls together in the same room to increase the fun factor and create a supportive environment. Rather than following the traditional call-a-thon route of people calling in to make a pledge, chapter board members simultaneously made outgoing calls to chapter members to better understand their needs and cultivate a personal connection. Consequently, the chapter titled their efforts the reverse call-a-thon program.
The half-day event yielded a response rate of 32.4 percent, a five percent increase from last year’s effort. Additionally, of those contacted, 40 percent shared their interest in taking on a volunteer role in the chapter and provided their contact information to the chapter creating a volunteer pool for leaders to draw on in the coming year.
