This annual conference is exclusively for ASTD chapter leaders! Current and upcoming board members are invited to attend this conference to network with fellow chapter leaders and share best practices for running an ASTD chapter. Get to know the members of the ALC Program Advisory Committee, which is comprised of ASTD chapter leaders.

ALC 2013 will be held October 25 - 26 in Arlington, VA with a preconference event on October 24. Registration will open in June/July 2013. All 2013 and 2014 chapter leaders are invited to join us for this learning opportunity. Make plans to send at least two chapter board members to this can't-miss event!

Hotel, Transportation and Restaurants
All sessions and activities will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Arlington, Virginia. Special rates are available for ALC attendees.

Take advantage of the courtesy Hyatt shuttle to and from Reagan National airport and to and from the Crystal City Metro Station.

The Hyatt is located in an area of Arlington, Virginia known as Crystal City. Crystal City boasts some of the city's hottest destination restaurants, a synergy of sidewalk cafes and diverse shopping.  Click here for a guide to Crystal City. Congressional Conversations Preconference

Preconference: Thursday, October 18, Congressional Conversations ($99)
This event includes lunch and a trip to Capitol Hill led by ASTD’s Public Policy Council to meet with members of Congress and their staffs to discuss policies and legislation affecting the learning and development field, and to offer help and expertise in training. ASTD Public Policy will help you get ready for the event by providing email templates to request appointments with Congressional staff and talking points for your visit. *Please note that this does not include a tour of Washington DC, however, you may schedule on your own in between meetings.

11:45 a.m.: Check in at ASTD registration desk, get name badge
12:00-1:00: Informal orientation (boxed lunches provided)
1:00: Depart hotel for Capitol Hill
1:45: Arrive on Capitol Hill (Union Station)
2:00-4:00: Meetings on the Hill
4:30: Meet back at Union Station
4:45: Bus leaves Union Station
5:30: Arrive back at Crystal Gateway Marriott

4. Template request letter - to request an appointmet with your Senator or Representative’s office. You can use this as an email request, or copy and paste pieces from it in an online appointment request form.

ALC 2013 registration will open in June/July 2013. ALL 2013 and 2014 CHAPTER LEADERS are invited to JOIN US for this learning opportunity. 

Include a line item in your chapter budget to cover the cost of registration and/or travel for at least two chapter leaders. Chapters are especially encouraged to send those serving in a 2013 President-Elect role.

The ASTD Chapter Leaders Conference is unique, because most all sessions are peer-led by chapter leaders. There are no podium lecterns in ALC session rooms and sessions at ALC have no "speakers", but are conducted as facilitated discussions.
