History and Mission

ASTD launched Learning Circuits in January 2000. Its goal was to promote and aid the use of e-learning, creating a body of knowledge about how to use technology efficiently and effectively for learning. It delivers a fully interactive Website with discussions, demos and resources, and articles on a weekly basis. A monthly opt-in email newsletter, LC Express, sends news, teasers, and links to subscribers. There are nearly 800 articles currently on the Website.

ASTD’s members come from more than 100 countries and connect locally in almost 140 U.S. chapters and 25 Global Networks. Members work in thousands of organizations of all sizes, in government, as independent consultants, and suppliers.

Meet the Editor

You may be surprised to learn that Learning Circuits is a one-person operation at ASTD! We rely on a lot of welcome contributions from the field, though.

Ryann Ellis is one of the founding editors of Learning Circuits. Prior to LC's launch in 2000, she was the technology, products, and Web editor for T+D magazine.
