Submission Instructions

You will have 1500 characters (including the spaces) for the each of the following fields: Description and Speaker Biography. Use Word Tools/Word Count to check the amount before you enter into the Proposal Submission Template.

Proposal Submission Steps

  1. Create a login and click Create Proposal button from the My Submissions page.
  2. Proposals must include all requested information and must be submitted directly online by 12:00 PM (noon) June 11, 2012.
  3. Before entering the online submission template you should write your complete proposal(s) using Word or WordPerfect and keep a copy of your proposal(s) for your records. ASTD cannot send you a copy of your proposal(s).
  4. To help you prepare, we have listed below the information you will be required to submit on the electronic submission form and provided a video tutorial. Be prepared to enter the following information:
Submitter's name and password for login. Submitter may be the same person as a speaker or a different person.
  • Speaker name, full mailing address, phone, cell phone, and email plus a brief bio (bio maximum: 1500 characters including spaces)
    (HINT: previous submitters and speakers will need to create a new profile in this new system)
  • Three areas of expertise for the speaker plus one industry affiliation
  • Name, full mailing address, phone, email, and bio, areas of expertise and industry for each co-speaker
  • If selected, you may be asked to provide a reference later on.
  • Proposal title (maximum: 10 words--keep it succinct!)
  • Select one Proposal Type, Track, Learning Approach, and Target Audience to further define the proposal content
  • Succinct description (maximum: 1500 characters including spaces)
  • Maximum of three Application to the Job Learning Objectives
    (Hint: use the guidelines for Learner-Focused Learning Objectives. All objectives must conform to this format.)
  • Delivery methods: be sure to clearly state how you will conduct the session (lecture, exercises, etc.). Include preferred room set-up and any special needs (maximum: 1500 characters with spaces). Room set-up choices are: theater-style seating; Creation Stations are set classroom style with desktop computers 
  • ASTD does not guarantee that these requests will be met in every case.
