Chad Udell, Jane Bozarth, and Julie Dirksen

Creating Real vs. Ideal Solutions
Chad Udell, Jane Bozarth, and Julie Dirksen

One of the challenges for us is producing forward-thinking solutions that have practical applications and can be designed, developed and measured. This session will explore, the differences in real or current solutions, and between practical and ideal solutions.

Facilitators will be shared with the group, and participants will be tasked with envisioning idealized and practical solutions. In the end, audience members will walk away with roadmaps that allow practical, innovative solutions to be not only envisioned, but achieved.

9:45 - 10:00 a.m.

Break

10:00 - 11:45 a.m.

Designing for Behavior Change
Julie Dirksen

Learning and development efforts are successful not when people know something new or different, but rather when people do something new or different.

Frequently, though, people know the right thing to do, but still aren’t doing it. If lack of knowledge isn’t the problem, then training that just provides more knowledge isn’t the answer.

This session looks at what we can learn from neuroscience, behavioral economics, psychology, and persuasive technology about why people do or do not do the right thing at the right time, and how we can design more effective environments to support them.

11:45 - 12:00 p.m.

Morning Recap

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Social Instructional Design
Jane Bozarth

Participants will work in groups to establish performance objectives, design strategies, and develop an implementation plan for supporting a detailed case of mobile workers engaging in self-directed informal learning. Participants will then repeat the process using cases of their own. Groups will present their plans for both the assigned case and the “real life” cases with which they choose to work.

4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

Facilitator Panel -- Q&A

Join the panel of facilitators for a candid discussion about the changes facing the industry today and how our roles and responsibilities are shifting with it. Bring your hard questions about your company, culture, and expectations for your next big endeavor to gain insight and confidence.

Dealing with Objections and Taking Action
Chad Udell, Jane Bozarth, and Julie Dirksen

You no doubt have a head full of innovative ideas to take back to your organization. But how get others on board? We’ll work together to brainstorm solutions and responses to common objections.

Then you will get ready to take action in your organization by participating in an active deconstruction of a fictional company’s onboarding experience and help rebuild it into a LearnNow experience, complete with mobile, social, and next-generation style learning design, tracking, and measurement.

Building on this, similar training processes will be discussed, and the group will crowdsource paths to innovate. Take the entire workshop's great ideas home and build on them!

10:00 - 10:15 a.m.
