Government Workforce

Welcome to Government Workforce: Learning Innovations Conference!

On behalf of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) and The Public Manager, welcome to Government Workforce: Learning Innovations, a unique opportunity to explore how learning can solve government challenges. I hope that your time here is professionally and personally fulfilling.

Our goal is to spotlight innovative examples of collaboration and learning in the public sectors, and help you put them to work in your agency! Your participation, your ideas, and your enthusiasm will help make this conference a success. You will learn from experts and your colleagues—and they will learn from you.

About the Conference

Building a stronger government through innovations in learning.

Designed to share human capital/workforce learning ‘best practices,’ with an emphasis on their practical application and implementation across government agencies, this innovative “un-conference” model will showcase the power collaboration and innovation have in the learning environment to help agencies meet their strategic mission outcomes.

Join us for a creative and collaborative exploration on the future of workplace learning in government. Here you’ll find best practices, tools, and solutions to the government’s most difficult learning challenges.

Along with government learning leaders, you will explore:

  • How to get training initiatives green-lighted by agency management.
  • How agencies are recognizing savings and leveraging learning opportunities by collaborating across the learning function.
  • How to find and develop low-cost options while providing high-quality leadership development options.

Most conferences say and do the same things. What is different about this event?

This conference is created by experts in learning and development, but is designed in response to what you’ve told us you need to know. ASTD (American Society for Training and Development) and The Public Manager have more than 120 years of combined experience leading the learning profession and providing best practices in management for the public sector. Together, we have a community of learning leaders with the authoritative voice of the profession. As an unbiased, not-for-profit, we’re bringing you an event to showcase the power of collaboration and innovation in the learning environment to help agencies meet their strategic mission outcomes.

We’re bringing the thought leaders, and you’re bringing the thoughts. In each session, you will have open dialogue with government learning leaders. There are no boring PowerPoint slides, only powerful conversations lead by a skilled moderator, supported by subject matter experts, and full of answers to your most pressing questions.

What will I learn? And what can I include on my approval form?

You will gain new ideas about how to create a strategic plan for learning, prove learning value, and successfully onboard new agency members during this election year.

What is included in my registration?

Your registration fee as an in-person attendee at Government Workforce includes a light breakfast, sit-down lunch, as well as snacks and beverages served at two Networking Breaks.
