Program Overview

The ASTD Training Certificate content is practical and grounded in the real world, not just academic theory. ASTD uses all of the latest tools and research available to deliver training that delivers results on the job. The ASTD Training Certificate focuses on what happens before, during, and after you deliver training, and what to do if training is not the right solution. Through the hallmark ASTD Competency Study, we gathered input from more than 3,600 learning and development professionals to identify the competencies required by the successful practitioners of tomorrow. The ASTD Competency Study forms the foundation of the ASTD Training Certificate.

This is a certificate program and the ASTD Training Certificate is awarded to participants upon successful completion of the program.

Here's how our programs drive results.
  • Jason Gain

"Our program had several experienced trainers as well as brand-new trainers, and everyone was able to get something out of it that was going to help them in their workplace. I had initially thought that this was going to be three days of nonstop lectures, but our instructor trained by doing rather than telling and I got so much more out of it than I expected. I now have so many tools in my toolbox that I'm excited to get started on designing my next training."

"I had an amazing experience at my Training Certificate program! It gave me several examples of activities, best practices, and techniques. I learned so many new skills in the 3-day period! No matter how much we did in that program, I felt like we were only scratching the surface. I am positive that I could have spent a month there and not run out of interesting topics to talk about with my peers and instructor. I feel that this was one of the best investments I could have made. I would do it again in a heartbeat!"

"I learned more in this class than I could write in here! The adult learning principles and styles were beyond powerful. It changed my whole perspective of effective training. I loved how Bloom's taxonomy was incorporated, as that is something that is heavily relied upon in my company. My favorite part was the demonstrations on the last day, during which you got an opportunity to put into practice all that you've learned.

ASTD is a recognized leader in the industry. I have heard nothing but positive comments from colleagues/friends regarding their experience with ASTD. ASTD falls directly in line with my career aspirations."

"The biggest takeaway from the Training Certificate program was this: You can deliver content through learning activities. Lecture is not necessary at all times. I have countless new methods to apply to my training programs.

Not only was the content amazing, the facilitator was the best I have ever had the pleasure to work with. ASTD is the best in the business."

"The real-life experiences discussed by the facilitator and the open discussion among course participants provided a personal touch to the program. The materials are easy to follow and provide a great reference point for future review.

I would recommend the Train the Trainer program to anyone who is getting started in the training field and also to anyone who needs a refresher course. It provided a great foundation of knowledge that allows the participants to take it offline and choose where they need to expand their knowledge."

"This program was a great way to review the basics of program development and facilitation, while learning new things at the same time. We would cover content through an exercise, and then change our perspective and discuss the activity's intent and process including when to use that type of exercise, how to integrate it into the content, what worked well, what could be changed and adapted. It was great to experience it first as a learner, and then discuss it as a trainer."

Before this class I was concerned about how to make my own training class active without losing the content, but this class showed me simple and easy ways to do that. I also learned the importance of remembering how adults learn when planning a training. Adults have knowledge and want to share it in the training setting and a facilitator should encourage that."
