Many of us are leading remote workforces but few of us have a roadmap to success. Challenges to managing remote employees are as big as the cloud itself, but there are tools and strategies that can help. We will explore, in depth, the foundation of supervising remote workforces.

Program Overview

Do you, or your employees, work outside of a traditional office? That might mean working from home on occasional mornings or being completely based at your local coffee shop. Perhaps you supervise sales staff in a large geographic area or are responsible for a team of global technology professionals. Mobile workforces are a growing and permanent trend and management strategies need to keep pace.

This course will provide the basics of managing your mobile workforce—from supervisory tools to leadership techniques. In The Nuts and Bolts of Virtual Supervision session you will learn how to align job descriptions to virtual positions, how to lead meetings in the cloud and how to share documents with your remote employees. In the Put a Ring On It session, we will give you tools for engaging your remote team, including building trust and conveying your team culture in the absence of a shared space. Finally, in the Communicating Across the Digital Divide session we will focus on advanced communication strategies such as coaching in a virtual environment and identifying and adapting your leadership style to a remote work team.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify what positions in your organization are best suited to a virtual environment and craft appropriate job descriptions.
  • Facilitate a collaborative, team-based meeting with your remote workforce using online conferencing technology.
  • Evaluate and coach your remote employee’s performance using our custom tool.
  • Develop trust-centered teams.
  • Create successful communication channels within your team by identifying the most appropriate technology.
  • Identify your personal remote management style after taking our brief assessment.
