Powerful facilitation skills are a requirement for any professional. This one-day certificate program provides participants with a variety of proven techniques for facilitating engaging and result-oriented training sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to deliver a practice facilitation session with feedback and coaching from the instructor and peers.

Program Overview

During this one-day workshop you will learn how understanding of adult learning principles and proper practice and preparation are the key to successful facilitation. Participants will learn how to foster learner engagement and enthusiasm, address the needs of all learning styles, leverage effective questioning techniques, and manage participant behaviors to lead impactful sessions.

Learn to:

  • Open every training session with punch.
  • Make the connection between learning objectives and effective facilitation.
  • Incorporate adult learning principles into all sessions.
  • Explain the various learning styles and support learning methods for each.
  • Recognize the importance of facilitation preparation and identify the critical components required in your world.
  • Use the facilitation techniques and approaches from the workshop to improve on-the-job success.

ASTD Certificate Programs are learning events and a certificate is awarded to participants upon successful completion of the program. No test is given and participants are not certified. Certification is a testing event that confirms that skills, knowledge, or competencies have been acquired. Attendance Policy

Participation in all originally scheduled days of the program is mandatory in order to receive the certificate of completion and 0.7 CEUs. Participants who miss more than two hours of the entire program will not be eligible to receive the certificate. Participants who fulfill the attendance requirement will receive a certificate at the end of the program.

As a former manager of a corporate university, Julie was responsible for new employee orientation, leadership and management, sales, client training, systems, and administrative training programs. She holds numerous certifications, including DDI, AchieveGlobal, and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment, and designing and implementing training and development solutions that help clients achieve their desired business results. Julie also serves as an in-person and online facilitator for ASTD's Creating New Supervisor Training Programs Certificate and Training Certificate Programs. She also wrote the Infolines "Creating Training Manuals" and "Creative Facilitation Techniques for Training." She has spent the majority of her career in the technology learning field. She also has been the technology training manager for Northeast Utilities (a New England-based utility company),the IS learning manager for LL Bean and the e-learning manager for Bean. During her corporate career she helped to introduce the accelerated learning methodology at both companies as well as help to redesign the way in which learning was done at the company. She is certified in the usage of the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument and has been utilizing technology to deliver learning for most of her career.
