Program Overview

Workplace learning and performance professionals have the most credibility, influence, and impact on their organizations when they work in an engaging environment that maximizes their productivity and energy. Unfortunately, seventy percent of workers today are not engaged in their work and giving their best effort. This workshop draws on knowledge integrated from multiple fields including neuroscience, organizational behavior, psychology, and sociology to provide guidance on how effective leaders can engage their workers to increase ROI.

This workshop will:

  • Clarify the difference between employee happiness and engagement.
  • Introduce the six universal human needs to thrive at work.
  • Review key research on employee engagement and human connection.
  • Introduce a model to create a work environment that engages people.
  • Provide exercises where participants identify leadership behaviors that are engaging.
  • Review examples of leaders who were connected with and engaged the people they led.
  • Provide an actionable checklist of leadership behaviors to help leaders engage people.
  • Provide a process to develop an engaging work environment.
  • Assist participants in developing an action plan to engage the people they lead.

Engaged employees are more productive, more collaborative, and less likely to leave. In fact, research demonstrates that the set of leadership behaviors taught in this workshop help people thrive at work and drive the business’s bottom line.

Essentials of Evaluating Leadership Development Programs

While it is commonplace for organizations to invest in leadership development programs, it is far less likely for organizations to have meaningful insights into how they can measure the effectiveness and value of them. Important areas of evaluation include increased employee performance, customer satisfaction, product quality, corporate profitability, and other various indicators of mission success.

This workshop will provide an overview of the study “The Impact of Leadership Development Programs” by the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) and ICF International. We will review the study’s findings, and help you to consider how the identified best practices can be used in your organization.
