Session 1: What is a Case Study: Fundamentals of the Method
In this session, the fundamentals of the case study method will be discussed, including the following topics:
- the definition of a case study
- benefits of the case study method
- when to use a case study versus another learning method.
Session 2: A Step-by-Step Approach to Building Case Studies
In this session, a step-by-step approach to building effective case studies to use in your learning programs will be demonstrated, including the following topics:
- five steps to building effective case studies
- create case study objectives
- design case study content
- plan/organize the case study
- develop the case study materials
- test/revise the case study materials
Session 3: Creating a Case Study to Implement in a Learning Program
During this session the facilitator will share examples of case studies and how they relate to content areas of a learning program. You’ll be encouraged to share examples of case studies used in their organizations’ programs and how they relate to the content being covered. The final session includes:
- two examples of case studies and how they apply to specific training content
- breakout sessions for you to share your own case studies with fellow participants
- an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to fellow participants.
