Camtasia Studio® 8: An Introduction

This one-day live, online workshop provides a high-level introduction to Camtasia Studio® 8, a software package that allows you to quickly and easily create high-quality training and sales videos for mobile devices and the Web. With Camtasia Studio, you can record your computer screen and create professional-looking videos that clearly demonstrate a process, a product, or an idea.

About this Program

*While most of the other Essentials Series workshops take place over three 90-minute online sessions, this workshop is delivered online in one day from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. U.S. ET.

To participate in this ASTD online workshop, you will need the following software and hardware:

Camtasia Studio® 8 (a trial version may be used)
Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista
Microsoft DirectX 9 or later version
1.0 gHz minimum — Recommended: 2.0 GHz Core Duo or equivalent processor
500 MB RAM minimum — Recommended: 2.0 GBPPP115 MB of hard-disk space for program installation
Camtasia Studio Add-in for PowerPoint requires PowerPoint 2000, 2002, 2003, or 2007
Production to the Apple iPod/iPod Touch/iPhone format requires Apple QuickTime 7.2 or later
Dedicated Windows-compatible sound card, microphone and speakers (recommended)

Note: the Camtasia Studio software is NOT provided with the registration fee; however, a trial version of the suite can be downloaded directly from techsmith.com. Because of the large file size, participants must download the trial version at least one day in advance of the workshop.

Record a screen process (including the use of SmartFocus technology)
Add Audio and Music
Add Images
Add slide transitions
Add callouts
Produce the lessons in multiple formats (iPhone/iPod/SWF/MP4/FLV/MOV/AVI).

Participants may transfer their registration to another seminar free of charge. The transfer request must be received in writing five (5) business days prior to the first day of the seminar for which you were originally scheduled. A $50 transfer charge will be applied to all transfers received less than five (5) days prior to the first day of the session. Participant substitutions may be made at any time with written notification to ASTD. If the substitute participant is not an ASTD member and the original participant was, the difference between the member and nonmember rate will be billed.

If cancellation should be necessary, written or email notification to ASTD is required five (5) business days prior to the first day of the seminar. You may receive a full refund, minus a $100 administrative fee, up to and including the 5th business day before the seminar. If you find that you cannot attend, and it is less than five (5) business days before the start of the seminar, you may send a replacement, with written notice to ASTD. If you are unable to send a replacement, you forfeit your registration fee. All credits must be used within 1 year from the date of issuance.

On-Site Offerings

ASTD can make arrangements for this program to be offered on-site at your organization. Your attendees participate in the same learning experience offered at our public workshops, but have the convenience of being at your site and the benefit of covering the material with company peers.

Kevin A. Siegel

Kevin A. Siegel is the founder and president of IconLogic. He has written more than 100 step-by-step computer training books, including Essentials of Adobe Captivate 5, Essentials of Adobe Captivate 4, Essentials of Adobe Captivate 3, Essentials of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, Essentials of QuarkXPress 7, Accelerated QuarkXPress 6, Essentials of Adobe InDesign CS3, Essentials of Adobe PageMaker 7, and Essentials of Adobe RoboHelp 8.

Kevin spent five years in the U.S. Coast Guard as an award-winning photojournalist and has more than 23 years experience as a print publisher and technical writer. He is a certified technical trainer, has been a classroom instructor for more than 18 years, and is a frequent speaker at trade shows and conventions. Kevin holds multiple certifications from companies such as Adobe and the CompTIA.
