Adobe Captivate® 6: An Introduction

This one-day live, online workshop provides a high-level introduction to Adobe Captivate 6. You will learn several e-learning best practices:

get insight into some slick Captivate production tips and tricks
receive expert guidelines to make your online learning the best it can be
be guided through "best practice"; scenarios related to recording, adding interactivity, and working with audio.

To attend this program, you must have Adobe Captivate 6 installed on your computer (a trial version is acceptable). This workshop is designed for instructional design professionals with little or no knowledge of Adobe Captivate. Because this is a software-based workshop, space is limited.

About this Program

This one-day live, online workshop provides a high-level introduction to Adobe Captivate 6.

Topic Areas:

Recording best practices (screen resolution, capture areas, and font usage within text captions).
Best practices for creating interactive Captivate simulations and how they are more effective than demonstrations (including how long your lessons should last).
Production techniques that will cut your development time significantly.
Getting the most out of Microsoft Word via "round-tripping."
Best settings for publishing.

While most of the other Essentials Series workshops take place over three 90-minute online sessions, this workshop is delivered in one day from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.US ET.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

record demonstrations, assessments, and interactive simulations.
add images, animation, text, and Flash video.
publish their completed lessons for multiple audiences.

Participants may transfer their registration to another seminar free of charge. The transfer request must be received in writing five (5) business days prior to the first day of the seminar for which you were originally scheduled. A $50 transfer charge will be applied to all transfers received less than five (5) days prior to the first day of the session. Participant substitutions may be made at any time with written notification to ASTD. If the substitute participant is not an ASTD member and the original participant was, the difference between the member and nonmember rate will be billed.

If cancellation should be necessary, written or email notification to ASTD is required five (5) business days prior to the first day of the seminar. You may receive a full refund, minus a $100 administrative fee, up to and including the 5th business day before the seminar. If you find that you cannot attend, and it is less than five (5) business days before the start of the seminar, you may send a replacement, with written notice to ASTD. If you are unable to send a replacement, you forfeit your registration fee. All credits must be used within 1 year from the date of issuance.

On-Site Offerings

ASTD can make arrangements for this program to be offered on-site at your organization. Your attendees participate in the same learning experience offered at our public workshops, but have the convenience of being at your site and the benefit of covering the material with company peers.

Kevin A. Siegel

Kevin A. Siegel is the founder and president of IconLogic. He has written more than 100 step-by-step computer training books, including Essentials of Adobe Captivate 5, Essentials of Adobe Captivate 4, Essentials of Adobe Captivate 3, Essentials of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3, Essentials of QuarkXPress 7, Accelerated QuarkXPress 6, Essentials of Adobe InDesign CS3, Essentials of Adobe PageMaker 7, and Essentials of Adobe RoboHelp 8.

Kevin spent five years in the U.S. Coast Guard as an award-winning photojournalist and has more than 23 years experience as a print publisher and technical writer. He is a certified technical trainer, has been a classroom instructor for more than 18 years, and is a frequent speaker at trade shows and conventions. Kevin holds multiple certifications from companies such as Adobe and the CompTIA.
