CPLP® Prep Online

Please note that these programs support CPLP exams and work product submissions through February 2014 only.

This program is designed for those who have the following qualifications:

• If you have three years of relevant work experience in the workplace learning and performance profession
• If you have decided that certification aligns with your career goals
• If you have the resources required (time, money, energy) to invest in the CPLP®
• If you are ready to start preparing to earn your CPLP®
• If you want to know where your understanding of CPLP® content is strong, and also where you need to invest more effort in preparation in order to be successful.

About this Program

CPLP Prep Online is offered prior to CPLP exam windows.

The course includes exercises and quizzes that develop specific knowledge in each of the ASTD Competency Model's nine areas of expertise: (1) designing learning, (2) delivering training, (3) improving human performance, (4) measuring and evaluating learning, (5) facilitating organizational change, (6) coaching, (7) career planning and talent management, (8) managing the learning function, and (9) managing organizational knowledge. Participants work with a course mentor, an expert in the field, and benefit from the opportunity for online discussions with other WLP professionals preparing for the CPLP® exam.

Participants will use the ASTD Learning System (included with your registration fee) throughout the course, covering the profession's nine areas of expertise. CPLP Prep Online's primary purpose is to prepare an individual for the CPLP® certification during an upcoming exam window.

Online Mentors

This is a self-directed course with online mentors. ASTD uses the most effective and highly qualified mentors for this education program. Each online mentor is a CPLP® and understands what is necessary to prepare for your CPLP exam and work product. Their roles are different from a traditional instructor. They will serve as guides to help keep you on track and on target. They will have regular "virtual" office hours each week during your ten-week course period, and will be available to answer questions as well as monitor the participant discussion board.

About the ASTD Learning System

The registration fee includes the ASTD Learning System in PDF format. A fully searchable and printable PDF of each of the nine modules and the User's Guide will be accessible to participants from within the online course, and is available when the course begins.The ASTD Learning System is required for this program.

ASTD has created a list of CPLP exam preparation tools and suggested study timelines. Each individual’s style and time in preparation varies, these are only suggestions.

 

Learning Objectives

Upon completing the program, participants will be able to:

• Define the key terms, knowledge areas, and vocabulary of the ASTD Learning System.
• Identify the key knowledge areas of the ASTD Learning System.
• Accurately articulate the work product submission requirements and steps to prepare.
• Identify the steps to prepare your work product.
• Identify areas of strength and weakness to prepare for the CPLP® knowledge exam.
• Execute your study plan during the ten-week course window.
• Apply test-taking techniques and exam requirements to your CPLP® preparation.
• Articulate the benefits of the CPLP designation to employers and peers.
