ASTD’s facilitators are seasoned practitioners with 10 years or more of experience in their content areas. They draw upon their professional accomplishments and career experiences to deliver personalized learning and valuable insights.

You’ll find that many of our facilitators are published authors or popular speakers in their fields of expertise, and they come from a wide range of industries and sectors. They frequently serve as instructional designers, managers, coaches, human performance improvement professionals, and consultants.

  • Ingrid Guerra-Lopez

    Ingrid Guerra-López, PhD, is an associate professor and director of the Institute for Learning and Performance Improvement at Wayne State University and currently serves on the board of directors of the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI). Guerra-López’s research, teaching, and consulting focus on improving human and organizational performance through needs assessment and evaluation, with particular focus on performance monitoring and evaluation systems. She has published six books and more than 40 articles. Her book, Performance Evaluation: Proven Approaches for Improving Program and Organizational Performance, is one of the most widely used evaluation books in instructional systems and performance improvement graduate programs at universities.

    Ingrid Guerra-Lopez

Formerly, he headed up the BBC's prestigious television, radio ops, and new media training department in London. He now teaches at George Washington University and operates a leadership and communication training company in Washington, D.C. Jonathan has bachelor's and master's degrees in adult learning. He has worked as a media executive, journalist, communications manager, and talk show host. He has taught multimedia to thousands of people around the world including in television, radio, newspaper, healthcare, and retail companies, as well as the federal government. His strength is drawing on both a rigorous academic background in adult learning and professional media expertise, forged at some of the world's leading media companies.

  • Gail Heidenhain

    Gail Heidenhain, president of Delphin and board chair of the International Alliance for Learning (IAL), the professional organization for accelerated learning, has been consulting with organizations around the world to design and implement strategies that enhance and accelerated the learning process. Her focus has been on the people side of the business—developing effective global leaders, high performing teams, and the intercultural competency and personal effectiveness to help companies thrive in the global marketplace. Gail has also trained and certified over two thousand facilitators in accelerated learning globally since 1985. She co-developed the highly successful accelerated learning design technology employed throughout much of Europe to design and facilitate learning in a variety of contexts and organizations. She spearheaded the DGSL (German Society of Accelerated Learning) three tier certification program that was implemented in 1991. She was the expert adviser in the development of a research project to test the effectiveness of accelerated learning at the University of Munich in 1992 that was sponsored by Siemens. Building on the success in Germany, Gail initiated the creation of standards in AL certification and accreditation in the U.S. She has served on the boards of the North American Simulation and Gaming Association (NASAGA) and the Organizational Change Alliance (OCA) as well as on the conference committees of ASTD and the National Staff Development Council (NSDC).
