ASTD’s facilitators are seasoned practitioners with 10 years or more of experience in their content areas. They draw upon their professional accomplishments and career experiences to deliver personalized learning and valuable insights.

You’ll find that many of our facilitators are published authors or popular speakers in their fields of expertise, and they come from a wide range of industries and sectors.     Lisa Ann Edwards is the founder of Bloom Coaching Institute, an organization that advances coaching effectiveness through research, tools, training and consultation utilizing the ROI Methodology™. Edwards’s coaching work has demonstrated as much as a 251 percent return on investment and has been shown to lift employee engagement nearly 20 percent.

    As head of Talent Management for Corbis, a Bill Gates' privately owned global media company, Lisa was responsible for designing and implementing effective talent development solutions such as leadership development, management development and coaching programs to ensure talent engagement, improve talent retention and serve to feed the talent pipeline.

    Helen Fong is a Synchronous Facilitator, Producer, and Project Manager for InSync Training, LLC.  With 15 years of experience in the e-learning field, Helen has had the opportunity to work with many organizations to provide effective synchronous online learning solutions. She has helped transition many traditional trainings into successful and effective online courses. An early adopter of synchronous e-learning, Helen worked for WebEx where she contributed to building WebEx University as a Trainer for seven years. She later moved on to other roles and companies, where she continued to be a passionate advocate for synchronous online solutions. Helen holds a MBA in International Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

He has worked in the field of human resource development for twenty years, including training management positions at Southern California Gas Company, Magnavox, Allied-Signal, and Texas Instruments. His consulting clients include Toyota, Nissan, Rockwell International, Samsung Electronics, Orange County Transportation Authority, Glendale Memorial Hospital, and others. For these and other clients, he has developed custom classroom, self-study and web-based training, conducted performance and needs analyses, facilitated groups, managed improvement projects, taught courses, and evaluated results.

    He teaches graduate courses in human resource development for Antioch University, Los Angeles, and Cal State University Northridge. He has published 35 articles and three books on topics in training, education, and management, including Bottom-Line Training: How to Design and Implement Training Programs that Boost Profits (Gulf Publishing, 1999), In Action: Designing Training Programs (Editor, ASTD, 1996), and The Twain Shall Meet: The Current Study of English in China (McFarland, 1988).

    Ms. Gabel has more than 15 years of human capital, competency modeling, organization development, and change management experience with private, public, and military organizations. Her experience includes leading and participating in job analysis; strategic planning; process mapping; organizational restructuring; recruiting, selection, and staffing; competency modeling; organizational climate; statistical analysis; training design, development, and evaluation; and performance measurement initiatives. 

    Ms. Gabel has facilitated workshops, meetings, and data collection efforts as part of organization development and performance improvement initiatives for the US Agency for International Development, the US Marshal Service, the Veteran’s Administration, the Office of Personnel Management, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the American Gas Association, and Caterpillar Incorporated. Ms Gabel is certified as a facilitator by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and teaches five courses for ASTD within the Human Performance Improvement Certificate program.

    Ms. Gabel is a Certified Performance Technologist with the International Society for Performance Improvement and a Project Management Professional (PMP). She has also been a featured speaker at several industry conferences, and had led ICF and ASTD’s research on “Evaluating the Impact of Leadership Development Programs.”
