Three weeks prior to the face-to-face component, you’ll join your peers in a private online community to complete self-directed exercises. You’ll be welcomed to the program, invited to network with your facilitator and fellow learners, and given access to the key program materials and resources.
These valuable materials include a learning prioritization inventory to guide your learning experience, the ASTD Learning System Module 2 (Delivering Training), an online discussion led by your ASTD expert facilitator, and five ASTD Infolines: Do’s and Don’ts for New Trainers, Basics of Stand-Up Training, Ice Breakers, How to Create a Good Learning Environment, and Managing Difficult Participants. You’ll attend a 4-day classroom training covering content on assessing needs, preparing for training, creating a positive learning environment, facilitating learning, managing challenges, and evaluating learning. Highlights include:
- a connection to the Orientation
- building on your learning prioritization inventory
- multiple opportunities to practice delivery, including videotaping
- a knowledge test on Day 1.
- a skill demonstration on Day 4.
ASTD will record your presentation and an ASTD expert facilitator will provide detailed personalized feedback, coaching, and analysis. Class size is limited to 16 to provide more comprehensive and tailored learning. Click here to view sample content.
Part 3. Online Elective
You’ll continue your rich learning and personalized experience by completing an online offering of your choice to help you address your own unique professional development needs. Choose from the following options:
In addition to a core 4-day course and the online elective (second course), participants will be a part of an online learning community throughout the program, which allows them to access course materials, complete assignments, and reflect on their experience. They’ll walk away with easy-to-use tools to strengthen their training preparation and delivery, and enjoy the benefit of learning with a network of colleagues. Participants who successfully complete the program will earn an ASTD Master Trainer Program certificate.
ASTD estimates approximately three-four months to successfully complete the entire program.
Keep in mind the ASTD Master Trainer Program is a unique and robust assessment-based certificate program. If you are interested in building, or strengthening, your ability in training delivery, but are not interested in committing to the ASTD Master Trainer assessment component or timeframe consider the Training Certificate program.
