Congratulations! You are now subscribed to the

Learning professionals often perceive the bench planning process as related to the training function, but seldom does it drive the training program for each and every position in an organization. The discussion will center around how bench planning became the driving force behind training and development at Valvoline Instant Oil Change, and how it can be that force for other organizations as well.
Jamie Hinely is head of Talent Management for Valvoline Instant Oil Change, the nation's second largest quick-lube franchise. He provides strategy and leadership for the training and development function, as well as for talent acquisition and succession planning. Prior to Valvoline, he was Director of Training and Technical Communication at Claritas, and a lecturer at American University. Valvoline Instant Oil Change received an ASTD BEST award in 2012. The company's bench planning (succession planning) process received a Brandon Hall gold award for Excellence in Talent Management in the same year.
