ASTD Web User Tips

On this page you will find background information about using ASTD's website and online ASTD Store. If you cannot find information on this page to assist you with your web navigation issues, please visit our Customer Care Web Portal or contact Customer Care directly from the Contact Us page.

Registration Process

In order to make a purchase on the ASTD Store, you must first register on ASTD's website. We recommend that you complete the registration process before you begin the process of placing an order on our website.

If you have never purchased an ASTD membership or product from ASTD, you must create an account on ASTD's website. Once you select Create an Account on our registration page, you will be asked to complete your order profile, which will include your name, address, telephone, email and fax. Once provided, you will be asked to create a username and password. Note: Please do not use a PO Box for your shipping address.

Username: Can include any combination of letters
Password: Must be at least 8 characters and must include upper and lower case letters, and at least one number or special character

If you have previously placed an order with ASTD, your last known address and other contact information is already present in the ASTD ordering system. Simply enter your member or customer number and your last name as directed on the registration page and you will be provided with the opportunity to select a username and password. If unknown, you may request your member or customer number from the registration page using the email address recorded under your profile in the ASTD ordering system. Once you receive your Username and Password, you are registered with ASTD.

From our Register Page, you may also use several web options to:

  • Find out your Username
  • Obtain a temporary password
  • Change your Security Question
  • Update your Profile

My Profile

Once you have registered on ASTD's website, you may sign in at any time to view or change your member/customer profile. By selecting the My Profile button after signing in, you can:

  • View your membership expiration date
  • Edit your permanent address and contact information
  • Change your password
  • Renew your ASTD National Membership
  • View and download any electronic documents you have ordered within 72 hours
  • View your order history
  • Print order receipts for previous membership, ASTD Press or educational program orders

Keep Your Address Up to Date

To ensure that you receive your order in a timely fashion, ASTD recommends that you carefully review your permanent shipping address each time you place an order on the ASTD Store. For delivery to an office location, a suite number or floor number should be included in the address to ensure delivery. ASTD customers find it easier to update their profile under My Profile after moving to a new office or residential locations to simplify the ordering process. Also, please be sure that your email address associated with your profile is up-to-date. ASTD will use this email address to send you your order confirmation and your order tracking information.

Remember that ASTD does not ship to PO Boxes. You are advised to read the ASTD Store FAQs prior to placing your first order with ASTD.

One Time Shipping Address

If you wish, you may also have your order shipped to a one-time shipping address, which you will designate on the Check Out Page when you complete the order process. Please do not enter your one-time shipping address under your My Profile page.

How can I determine the current status of my membership and ASTD subscriptions?

Once you sign in on ASTD’s website, simply select the link titled “Access Problems?” This will take you to a web page that lists your current membership and subscription information.

What is the difference between a member number and customer number?

If you have previously joined ASTD as a member, the member number is the customer number created in our ordering system with your membership order.  If you are not, or have never been a member, you would have received a customer number associated with your order, which is the same number format as your member number.

I just signed up for an ASTD membership, but am not seeing member content or prices.

Once you join ASTD as a member, it takes at least two hours for your membership information to authenticate through our ordering system.  In most cases, once the two hours has passed, you should be able to enjoy all of your member benefits on ASTD's website.

How can I receive a receipt for my order/membership?

If you are a current member, you can go to our web site at ASTD.org and log in to view Your Profile under your membership information.  From your profile page, you can view previous orders made through the ASTD store and print a receipt.

I don't remember my ASTD website username and password.

ASTD allows customers to create only one customer account per email address.  Also, within ASTD's online ordering system, we maintain one registration account for each member, which is associated with the customer's membership profile.  Our ordering system must reference the membership profile to provide members with associated discounts for orders.  If a second registration account is created by a member, it will not be associated with the member’s profile, which means that member discounts would not be available for orders placed under a second account.
ASTD provides registered customers and members with the ability to request their current username, or to have their password reset.  Select 'register' from the upper left hand corner of the home page and follow the instructions provided to find out your username or to have your password reset.

Why did ASTD create a new website?

ASTD’s shift to the community model and a focus on content was a key driver in the decision to create a new user experience via a new website.
