Volunteering

As proven leaders in the field we rely on current CPLPs for help with the ongoing development of the CPLP program. This is to ensure that a quality program will result. There are a number of CPLP volunteer opportunities for 2014. Take a look at the information below for an overview of each of the activities and the 2014 schedule. To apply you must complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the attached 2014 Volunteer Opportunities Application Form and submit by fax or email to Pat Byrd at 703.683.7258 or pbyrd@td.org.
  2. Complete the on-line Content Expertise Survey (click on the following link to begin the survey). http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CPLP2014ContentExpertiseAssessment.

Item Writing

Conducted once during the year. Volunteers are responsible for developing multiple choice test questions for the CPLP knowledge exam

Must have Intermediate or Expert level knowledge and expertise in at least 4 AOE areas.

Involves participation in on-site and remote activities.  Several dates will apply.  Must be attending the ATD Conference and Exposition in order to participate. Volunteers must be able to commit to the entire schedule in order to participate and earn recertification points.  Selected participants must sign an Item Writing Non-Disclosure Agreement in order to participate.

Up to 10 points

Item Review Typically conducted 2 times during the year. Volunteers are responsible for reviewing all newly developed CPLP test items for the knowledge exam. Must have Intermediate or Expert level knowledge and expertise in at least 4 AOE areas

Virtual participation conducted via WebEx.  Anywhere from 3 - 6 hours of participation required (in some cases time is spread over several days).  Volunteers must be able to commit to the entire schedule in order to participate and earn recertification points. Selected participants must sign an Item Review Non-Disclosure Agreement in order to participate.

Up to 6 points
Work Product Scoring Typically conducted twice during the year. Volunteers are assigned as Raters (responsible for scoring candidate work products) or Team Leaders (responsible for rater training, scoring, providing guidance and adjudicating work product submissions. Must have Intermediate or Expert level knowledge and expertise in at least 2 AOE areas. Team leaders must have prior rater experience. In-person workshop conducted in Alexandria, VA (at or near the ATD headquarters), typically over a weekend. 3 - 4 day commitment (4 for Team Leads /3 for Raters); eight hour work days required. Volunteers must commit to the entire schedule in order to participate and earn recertification points. Selected participants must sign a Rater Non-Disclosure Agreement  and a Work Product Scoring Volunteer Rules and Regulations Agreement in order to participate. Up to 15 points

Cut Score

Conducted as needed. Volunteers are responsible for helping to develop the cut score for updated knowledge exam or work product assessment content. Must have Intermediate or Expert level knowledge and expertise in at least 3 AOE areas In-person workshop conducted in Alexandria, VA (at or near the ATD headquarters), 1 - 2 day requirement which may involve weekend work; eight hour work days required. Volunteers must commit to the entire schedule in order to participate and earn recertification points. Selected participants must sign a Cut Score Non-Disclosure Agreement in order to participate. Up to 10 points
