What does this mean for you?
Why is the test changing? Why now?
The CPLP certification is based on the ASTD Competency ModelTM. The Model determines what training and development professionals need to know and do to be successful. Because the Model was updated to reflect recent changes to the profession, the CPLP certification test questions must also be changed.
When will the test change?
Test changes will be introduced starting March 2014.

How significant are the test changes? What future test changes are expected?
At least 15 percent of the test content is expected to change. The exact changes will be determined by summer 2013. Check www.astd.org/cplp for more details.
How can I decide which test to take?
There is no definitive answer to this question. Factors to consider include cost, funding resources, time commitment, and other personal and professional considerations.
Obtaining a professional credential like the CPLP can:
• broaden your career opportunities
• give you an edge in a competitive job market
• result in salary increases and advancement opportunities.
To make your decision, consider which is more important:
• to complete the credential sooner to realize the above benefits
or
• to delay the exam to allow yourself more time to prepare and be tested on the latest content.
What are the steps for becoming CPLP certified?
1. Decide if you want to take the current exam or future exam.
2. Apply to the program via our online application.
3. Create your study plan.
4. Take the knowledge exam.
5. Take the work product exam (after passing the knowledge exam; usually 3-6 months later).

Register for the new test starting 12/1/2013. The first knowledge test administration is in March 2014.

Create your study plan
|
ASTD offers three different options for studying for the CPLP. Learn more about them on the CPLP prep webpage. You may choose any method you prefer. Note that prep classes and content to support the current test are available until June 2013, or while supplies last.

Prep materials for the new CPLP test will be available in the 4th quarter of 2013. You will be able to pre-purchase and register for these programs starting in the 2nd quarter 2013.

After you have successfully registered for the CPLP program, you will receive further instructions on when to schedule your knowledge test.
