Publishing Opportunities

Do you have expertise in a particular aspect of performance improvement? Or perhaps you managed a successful initiative that others could learn from. If so, you may be able to get published by ASTD.

ASTD publishes a wide variety of print products:

T+D magazine

Content: The flagship publication of the training and performance industry, T+D is a monthly magazine available to ASTD national members as part of their dues, and also by subscription and single-copy sales. The goals of the magazine are to provide useful, how-to information on current best practices; share new theories and their applications; report emerging trends; and address relevant and pivotal issues to the field.

Audience: Degreed training, development, and performance improvement professionals and line managers, ranging from new practitioners to seasoned executives in business, government, academia, and consulting.

Publication Schedule: Monthly.

Infoline

Content: This how-to publication contains concise and practical tools that pave the way for rapid proficiency in a wide variety of topic areas. Info-line has step-by-step guidelines and instructions, diagrams, charts, references, and job aids in each issue. Each issue is about 16-20 pages in length and is devoted to a specific topic-from critical industry discussions to timeless training basics.

Audience: Training, development, and performance improvement practitioners.

Publication Schedule: Monthly.

Books

ASTD publishes dozens of new books each year. Each publishing proposal is evaluated by the ASTD Publishing Review Committee. Important evaluation considerations include the proposed book's appropriateness for the ASTD member audience and competition for the work in the published market.

Performance in Practice

Content: A 16-page newsletter devoted to professional development for members of the society's 46 forums. Articles are written by and for forum members, and reflect the diverse perspectives and needs of all of these groups. See page 5 for a list of forums. Each issue contains information submitted by members of many different forums. The newsletter features short, practical, to-the-point articles that succinctly present information about training and development tips and techniques, best practices, and new trends. Practicality is the newsletter's most important feature.

Audience: Members of ASTD forums.

Circulation: Approximately 25,500.

Publication Schedule: Quarterly (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall).
