Volunteer-Staff Partnership Award
This award is presented to ASTD volunteers and staff members for their outstanding contribution to the vision and goals of ASTD achieved through collaboration and teamwork. The award recipients exemplify ASTD's goal of strong volunteer-staff partnerships. Four awards may be presented each year.

The 2007 award was presented to the volunteers and staff of the Chapter Excellence Awards Team. In 2005, the award was presented to the volunteers and staff of the Leadership Development Team. In 2004, Elaine Biech and Debbie Wise received the award for creating ASTD's online advice column Ask a Consulting Expert.

Criteria

Nominations will be evaluated in two areas:

  1. The magnitude of contribution and impact of results in advancing the vision and goals of ASTD. The contribution and results may be of a targeted duration and/or over a significant period of time.
  2. Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork that maximizes the unique roles and talents of staff and volunteers.
Eligibility

Eligible partnerships must have at least one ASTD member and at least one ASTD staff member.

Deadline

Entries must be received by September 22, 2009.

Selection Procedure

Nominators will receive notification of the decisions regarding their entries by February 15, 2010. 

The award winners will be honored at the awards ceremony during the ASTD International Conference & Exposition, May 16-19, 2010, in Chicago. Announcements of the award will be in ASTD publications and on the ASTD website. 

Submission Requirements

1.    Nominees

List names and contact information for the volunteer nominee(s) and the staff nominee(s). Include title, address, telephone, fax, and email.

2.    Nominator

List name and contact information for the nominator. Include title, address, telephone, fax, and email.

3.    Documentation

This section must not exceed five pages.

A. Summary of Nomination

In approximately 250 words, describe the accomplishments for which the team has been nominated and the impact their collaborative work has had on the vision and goals of ASTD. If the nominees are selected for an award, this summary will be used for various dissemination and shared learning purposes.

B.  Provide detailed information in the these areas:

  1. Define measurable outcomes and results achieved. Include timeframe in which the work was undertaken. 
  2. Describe how these contributions or work advance the vision and goals of ASTD. 
  3. Describe how the nominees (the team) modeled strong volunteer-staff partnership:
    1. Describe the roles and responsibilities of team members. 
    2. Describe the way in which work was accomplished, decisions were made, and the strategies for maximizing talents of both volunteers and staff. 

4.      References

Provide three references who can speak to the collaboration and the results and impact of this team's contribution to ASTD. References must include both volunteers and staff members. Provide title, address, telephone, fax, and email for each reference.
